Taking part in Operation Spring Clean-Up were the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, South Boston Police Department, Halifax Police Department, Virginia State Police K9 Units, Tri-County Task Force, coordinated by State Police Special Agent Jason Lacks, and the Halifax/South Boston Narcotic and Gang Task Force coordinated by State Police Special Agent R.B. Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark said, “Our agency will continue to be proactive in the fight against illegal drugs that are coming into our county, putting the lives of our citizens in danger.” “Our citizens deserve a place where they can live, work and play without having to worry about the negative effects illegal narcotics may have on their loved ones,” said South Boston Police Chief Bryan Young in a prepared statement announcing the arrests. In addition to the suspected narcotics, officers also seized two firearms and cash. ![]() In the course of the operation, police confiscated heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, powdered cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana. Operation Spring Clean-Up, a joint effort by local law enforcement agencies, has resulted in 41 arrests, with 26 suspects picked up for a variety of drug offenses.Ĭonducted over three days, from May 12-14, the sweep resulted in warrants and indictments being issued against dozens of alleged offenders.
